ADHD Testing and Evaluation in White Plains, New York

ADHD Testing and Evaluation in White Plains, New York

If you’ve been wondering whether ADHD could explain your struggles with focus, time management, or follow-through, you’re not alone.

Many adults and older teens reach a point where things just feel harder than they should. You may feel bright and capable, yet overwhelmed by daily tasks. Maybe you start projects but rarely finish them. Maybe your mind feels busy all the time. Or perhaps you’ve been treated for anxiety or depression, but something still doesn’t quite fit.

I provide ADHD testing and evaluation in White Plains, New York through my practice, St. James TMS & Psychiatry. My goal is to offer clarity through a structured, compassionate, and evidence-based process. Who This Service Is For

This service is for individuals age 16 and older who want a clear, professional evaluation for ADHD.

You may benefit from an ADHD evaluation if you:

I work with residents of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine through telehealth, with in-person components available in White Plains when needed for testing.

What You Might Be Experiencing

ADHD doesn’t look the same for everyone.

Some people describe feeling scattered. Others say they constantly feel behind. Many adults have developed coping strategies that mask symptoms, but at a cost — burnout, frustration, or low self-confidence.

You might notice:

Sometimes ADHD overlaps with anxiety or depression. Sometimes it mimics them. A careful evaluation helps differentiate what is ADHD and what may be something else entirely.

This process is about understanding the full picture — not just checking boxes.

Service Overview and Therapeutic Approach

At St. James TMS & Psychiatry, I provide structured adult ADHD evaluations grounded in clinical expertise and objective data.

My approach combines:

For those who want a more advanced assessment, I also offer the ADHD Precision Program, which adds objective testing and brain mapping.

The Three-Step Diagnostic Approach

Step 1: Comprehensive Virtual ADHD Evaluation
We meet virtually to review your symptoms, history, daily functioning, mood, sleep, and past treatments. I assess whether ADHD is present and whether other conditions may be contributing.

Step 2: QbCheck Cognitive Assessment
This is an FDA-cleared computerized test that measures attention, impulsivity, and movement. Your results are compared to age-based norms to provide measurable, objective data.

Step 3: QEEG Brain Mapping
QEEG is a non-invasive brainwave recording performed using a soft EEG cap. It identifies patterns of overactivity or underactivity. It is not a stand-alone diagnosis, but it supports individualized treatment planning.

The full program fee is $750 if not covered by insurance. Some portions may be reimbursable depending on your plan, though coverage is not guaranteed.

My focus is not just on identifying ADHD — it’s on ensuring the diagnosis is accurate and meaningful.

What Therapy Sessions Are Like

The evaluation process begins with an intake appointment.

During our first visit, I take time to understand your concerns, history, and goals. We discuss how your symptoms show up in daily life. I ask detailed questions to differentiate ADHD from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or other conditions.

Early sessions are structured but conversational. You don’t need to prepare anything elaborate — just come as you are.

If you move forward with QbCheck or QEEG testing, I guide you step-by-step so you understand what each part measures and why it matters.

Throughout the process, I emphasize collaboration. This is not about labeling you. It’s about helping you understand your brain and your strengths.

I believe mental health care should feel structured, compassionate, and evidence-based

Telehealth appointments are designed to fit into your schedule. Urgent telehealth visits may be available within 24 hours depending on availability. If you are ever in crisis, you should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s improved focus, stability, and confidence in how you move through the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for ADHD testing?

I evaluate individuals age 16 and older. If you’re unsure whether this is the right starting point, we can discuss that during an initial appointment.

Is the evaluation fully virtual?

The clinical interview portion is virtual. QEEG brain mapping must be completed in person. I will explain what is required before scheduling.

Does this guarantee an ADHD diagnosis?

No. The purpose of the evaluation is accuracy. Sometimes symptoms are better explained by anxiety, depression, sleep issues, or other conditions. My role is to help clarify what’s truly present.

How many visits are required?

Most individuals complete the evaluation process in two to four visits, depending on whether additional testing like QbCheck or QEEG is included.
